Remembering Khal Drogo

I'm a big, wait, HUGE fan of George Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. I'm on the 3rd book but I'm still mourning over my beloved Khal Drogo.

I totally cried my eyes out when I read this part!

Kasalan 2011 Wedding Exhibit

What a week!

Thank you to those who visited my booth!
My BFFs Sheryl and Dianne helped me out despite their busy schedules. I ♥ you, girls!

Of course, my Ma, who is a total mall rat, couldn't resist not being there the whole time. :) Plus, I'd like to acknowledge one little eight-year-old who couldn't sit still the whole time! I call her the pink tornado. (I love you, Julianna!)

Here are some photos.

The cupcake frame was my husband's 29th birthday present. Want to know something cool? The cupcake lights up! Too bad I wasn't able to charge it and there was no available electric plug.

Me, Graeco and Ed. First visitors. I lurve you, both!

Bora Bound
Pretty funky, huh? :) I had a blast making this (didn't matter that I spent days on it).

Surf
I wish someone would ask me to make it in red and gold. What do you think?
BTW, this design was actually inspired by a similar cake online. I fell in love with it. I wish I can find the original designer. Whoever you are, I hope I can credit you.

Damask. Okay, I bought some ridiculously priced damask stencils and I just felt that I had to use it. Ah, the feeling of vindication.

Me. 2nd day.

My friends are my non-paid and overworked marketing team. Thank you!

They were lining up for cupcakes and checking stuff out.

Last Day. There's Sheryl, Dianne and Me. Milk it, girlfriends! LOL.

Another shot.

Refueling. Cafe Laguna was two meters away.

Back From the Kitchen

My friends complain that I use Twitter intermittently and the only regular tweets from me are system generated via Facebook every time I post new photos. It goes something like this, "I posted 2 photos on Facebook in the album "WEDDING, ANNIVERSARY AND DEBUT CAKES AND CUPCAKES" ." LOL.

I've been really busy. Hmmm. Not so long time ago, pre-The Cupcake Theory days, I would have to stop myself from rolling my eyes and I'd need to bite my tongue before I spit out some in-your-place response when I hear people utter these four words. I don't know why I never believed that one can be too busy to read an email or reply to one . Or how someone can't answer their phones or get back to you within an hour. But since my cupcake and cake making days, I realized that it can happen. Even to someone like Ms. RSVP me.

It's been more than a month since my last post. Here are some of the stuff that has been keeping me...fine, I'll say it....busy. :) Enjoy! (More, and I mean more pictures athttp://cupcaketheory.multiply.com/ orhttp://www.facebook.com/www.thecupcaketheory.cakesandcupcakes

Angry Birds Version Nth

I get at least 10 cake orders and 8 dozen cupcake requests every week for the Angry Birds theme. Here's one that I made over the weekend. It's a mini fondant covered chocolate cake with all the little fellas in that popular video game. The customer told me she was going to give it to someone who needed some anger management. Cute. :)

Officially Sultry, Sexy, Red

Sultry, Sexy, Red
red velvet cupcakes with The Cupcake Theory's signature cream cheese frosting

I finally have an official photo of The Cupcake Theory's best selling red velvet cupcakes (named Sultry, Sexy, Red by yours truly. Ha! ). I've been meaning to take updated photos of my cupcakes since I've been using photos that my customers' gave me. Those were perfectly fine and taken by people who were practically born with their cameras but the cupcakes' looks were outdated. It's been more than two years since I started selling cupcakes and during the first 6 months, it was a constant trial and error when it came to the piping. I finally found "the one" and decided to stick with it and use it as my signature look (for more than a year now). Many thanks to family and friends who willingly and tirelessly put up with all my cupcake fickleness! I'm still editing photos for the other cupcake flavors and cannot wait to post them!

That Chocolate in That Box

Curly Tops is still my favorite after all these years. My mom told me that my father used to give her this when they were still dating.

Due to the Martial Law some 20 years ago, imported chocolates were practically non existent here in the Philippines. My aunts and uncles who traveled a lot would usually bring us imported goods during that period but I still preferred my Curly Tops.

I especially like the fact that Ricoa didn't change their packaging.

This is the ultimate comfort food.

Paint Shmaint

I love making hand-painted cakes. Here are some:

"Across the Ocean"
I got a call from Cathy (who is currently in Dubai) and she wanted something special for someone here in Cebu. Too sweet!

The birthday boy is a big fan of artist extraordinaire Christian Tamondong. This cake was inspired after one of Tamondong's paintings - which the celebrator has. :)

Hello, Gwinnie!

My uber fabulous, extremely generous and unbelievably thoughtful London based-friend, Ragen, got me a personally signed Gwyneth Paltrow book for my birthday. Rage, you're the sweetest!

Gwyneth and my friend Ragen - small talk. Haha. :)

Signing the book! Thanks, Ragen!

Why, hello there!

This girl can sing, dance, act and cook. Is there something that she can't do?

I'm a fan!

**Thanks to Ragen Aviso-Stevart for the photos**
