Happy Easter, Everyone!

Easter Sunday on the beach is my family's tradition. This year, we went to Vistamar Beach Resort in Lapu-Lapu. We visit different resorts every year but so far, my family and I can say that this resort has the best service. The receptionists were sincerely polite and the waiters were incredibly accommodating. The food was great, the amenities were clean, the pool and beach were gorgeous and the place was well maintained. All these for very reasonable prices.

The best thing about this place was that it wasn't swarmed with visitors. There was a good number of people but we still had the rest and relaxation that we needed.

My Crocs™ Alice Work. Rey's gift for my 26th birthday (almost 3 years ago). Romantic, huh? LOL. Still, I wouldn't trade it for the world. :)

Julianna's name was misspelled but the staff was very nice so I didn't mind

Papa's shoes. He has tons of these. LOL.

Mama was wearing Julianna's bracelet for her so she won't lose it while she swims and plays

Furry Babies

(2007)
Sharpay (yes, as in Sharpay Evans of HSM) was a beautiful Shih Poo (Shih Tzu -Poodle) who we lost 2 Christmases ago. We miss you, Sharp. :(

Scrat is one of Sharpay's puppies (He was only 2 months old in this picture). I hate to say this and I don't like playing favorites but Scrat is "the one" for me. LOL. He stole my heart the moment he was born. He's extremely gentle and unbelievably docile when it comes to us. He loves Julianna to pieces but he can be really moody, too. This guy is very territorial and hostile towards strangers.

Scrat with his new haircut (February 2011).
See how sad he looks! He totally hates it. LOL!

Kunot is a purebred Chinese Shar-pei. The little miss looks really scary but she's really sweet and playful. She doesn't have a temper at all and I've never seen her getting mad about anything. She's twice Scrat's size but she lets him bully her all the time. Needless to say, Kunot is the husband's favorite.

Tick Tock, Tick Tock

I worked in the BPO industry for 8 years but I was one of the lucky few (as far as I'm concerned since there are some who are NOT morning people) who spent most of those years in the morning shift. When I started, I had to work at night. This pained me since I cannot tuck Julianna to bed. After a year and a few positions later, I finally got the AM shift.

I was happy and this was probably one of the reasons why I stayed for a long time. In most cases, I was given the 6AM or 7AM shift. I love spending the afternoons and evenings with my daughter.

Since I had to wake up early, we had to sleep early. My husband, who works like a horse, has a very demanding job and doesn't seem to mind the lack of sleep. I, on other hand, can be a very mean person if sleep deprived. So, for everyone's sake, I make sure that I get my rest.

Last March, when I quit my job to become a full-time cake whatever, I have been sleeping really late. I'm busier than ever and most of the time, I find myself sculpting and baking until 3AM. I would wake up really late (it's summer vacay) and start working on stuff really late as well. Sometimes Julianna would complain and say, "Ma, why don't you bake and decorate your cakes early so you can sleep early?". That's a good point but my body clock is so messed up right now!
So, I used good ol' Google and searched for tips and advice on how to change my sleeping pattern. I came upon a very interesting article from curezone.com. No, it didn't talk about counting sheep or warm milk but it discussed the Chinese Body Clock. The diagram is divided into several times of the day wherein a certain body organ is at its peak. Or something like that.

As for my main concern, maybe I have to include exercise in my daily routine. I've been thinking of jogging at least 4 times a week for the past months now. This might just do the trick.

PDF above was provided by a friend. The original file that I scanned was barely readable so she sent me this. Thanks, Yan! ♥

Plants vs Zombies Cake

One of my favorite games!

Pretty in Pleats

I made this cake for a very beautiful couple. The bride wanted a pleated cake and I was all too excited to make one. The flowers were made a week in advance since I wanted it hard and ready when placed on the edges. The pleats were a tad difficult than expected but it got easier as I went on.

The wedding and reception took place at Plantation Bay, one of Cebu's most breathtaking resorts.

I wanted to take more pictures of the place but it was getting rather dark and the drive home was at least an hour away.
